Cashmere wool is made up of amino acids just like our hair. Although cashmere fibers are very fine, they are still very strong, tear-resistant and very flexible! The high flexibility of the fibers is also the reason why cashmere does not wrinkle easily and does not necessarily need to be ironed.

Excellent heat retention and the cozy factor that cashmere provides justifies the high price. It is also very breathable and does not absorb body odors so easily. The soft and warm cashmere is also water-repellent - so it dries very quickly after washing.

The 100% cashmere items from Zwillingsherz have a long journey behind them: they come from China. This is mainly because the cashmere goat is native to the high Himalayas.

The Zwillingsherz team flies to China approximately every 6 months, visits the production sites and checks the working conditions and the cashmere suppliers. There, the undercoat of the cashmere goat is still combed out very gently with wooden combs at the end of winter or at the beginning of spring, when the goat sheds its coat. The regrowing fibers remain soft and fine and the quality of the wool obtained is high. The combing process can take up to two weeks, however, with around 200 grams of wool being collected per animal. The subsequent work steps are also often carried out by hand.

The characteristic properties of the products can only be produced under certain conditions. In order for the undercoat to develop in high quality, harsh winters with extreme temperatures are necessary. This is a natural protective mechanism of the cashmere goat. Temperatures of up to -40°C in winter are not uncommon. Even today, many Asian countries offer the ideal conditions for the development of high-quality undercoat, while German manufacturers are dependent on importing cashmere.

The most important care tips:

• Whether it's a cashmere sweater, hat or scarf - hand washing with a wool detergent (alternatively: with mild hair shampoo) is the best choice!
• Use only cold or lukewarm water when washing
• You should avoid rubbing or wringing
• Only let it dry lying down - never hang it up when wet, otherwise the shape will change!
• Avoid direct sunlight
• Sometimes it is enough to simply air cashmere, because it loves the fresh air and activates its self-cleaning powers!
